Erki Põdra's notary office can assist you in all notarial transactions. Transactions can be carried out on site in the notary's office or by remote authentication or hybrid authentication.

A notary is a holder of office in public law, to whom the state has delegated the right to authenticate and certify facts and events of legal effect and to perform other notarial acts ensuring legal certainty.

A notary's main function is to authenticate civil law transactions to ensure better protection of the rights of persons and provide more certainty in resolving legal issues. Authentication aims to bring stability to the relations between persons and thereby prevent possible legal disputes.

More information about the professional activities of notaries can be found on the website of the Chamber of Notaries (website partly in Estonian).

Remote authentication / hybrid authentication
Remote authentication means the conduct of notarial acts via a video bridge created between the notary and the customer, and such authentication is equivalent to authentication in the presence of a notary. Remote authentication is an option, not an obligation. A transaction can also be carried out using hybrid authentication. In the case of hybrid authentication, some of the participants of a transaction are present for the transaction at the notary’s office and others are participating via a video bridge. It is no longer necessary to come to the notary’s office to carry out transactions. The customer only needs a functioning device with an internet connection, camera and microphone, and a tool to verify their identity (Estonian ID-card, Smart-ID or Mobile-ID).

  Notary fees
According to the Notaries Act, notarial acts are subject to a fee. The notary fees payable for notarial acts have been established with the Notary Fees Act (website in Estonian). The amount of the notary fee may depend on the content of the contract and other procedures related to the transaction; the notary will know the exact price. The notary fee calculator (website in Estonian) provides information about the notary fee and state fee payable for the authentication of contracts.
